Over the past 12 months, the HKIS Alumni Association has taken your suggestions and is pleased to announce a restructuring of the organization and board member selection process. For the benefit of all alumni and its activities, the changes are aimed at providing more structure and consistency to the association at a global level.
Specifically two major initiatives will be introduced in the coming year:
1. The annual election of board members.
2. The institution of membership fees with associated benefits.
The election for the Hong Kong chapter of the HKIS Alumni Association will take place on Thursday, Aug 28 from 7-10pm. Venue will be at the Sun Hung Kai Securities Club (Address: 7F, Siu Ying Commercial Building, 155 Queens Road, Central). This event is a complimentary dinner event hosted by the Alumni Association and open to all alums interested in becoming full members and to vote in the upcoming elections.
We encourage you to join our board and be a valuable part of the HKIS Alumni Association. The board consists of seven alums and two HKIS current faculty whom meet six times a year. It aims to:
1. Connect alumni with the HKIS community;
2. Support the external community for the benefit of the school;
3. Raise funds for the Alumni Association and fund grants.
A detailed description of the bylaws will be provided to you upon request. Board terms are for one year (Sept 2014 to Sept 2015)
Candidates for election to the Alumni Board should complete the form here by Aug 15.

Note that only full (paid) members of the HKIS Alumni Association can run for a board seat and/or vote, e.g., those whom have paid their annual dues, will be eligible to participate. Those whom cannot attend will be eligible to cast their votes in absentia. Candidates who receive the most votes shall be elected to the board. In instances where there is a tie vote, members will continue voting until the tie is resolved.
Membership Dues and Benefits
The Hong Kong Chapter of the HKIS Alumni Association will introduce annual membership dues (Full Time Students: HKD 170 and Others: HKD 350) for the coming year. The introduction of fees is to cover ongoing expenses such as the organization of social events, administration of a mentorship program, charity events, and other future initiatives.
The membership provides the following benefits:
(i) Voting rights at the Annual General Meeting;
(ii) Eligibility to hold a post within the Alumni Association or as a board member;
(iii) Discounts at all Alumni Associated events;
(iv) Invitation to private networking events. This year, it will be an exclusive and private dinner (max 8 guests) with a managing director at a bulge bracket investment bank.
Membership dues should be paid at the AGM and only cash will be accepted. If you are interested in becoming a member but cannot attend, you may still register as a member. Please register here.

Can I attend the AGM as a non-paying member?
No, sorry. Only members of the Alumni Association (Hong Kong Chapter) may attend the AGM and enjoy the complimentary dinner hosted by the AA. Becoming a member is simple - just complete the form and pay your dues at the AGM.
Can I pay my membership by cheque or credit card?
No, sorry. Only cash will be accepted at the AGM for membership payment. If you are unable to attend but would like to become a member and have voting rights, please complete the membership form and indicate that you will not attend and a PayPal payment request will be sent to you by e-mail.
